Since S.T.E.P.S. in the Right Direction opened its doors in 2000, the organization has evolved to meet the changing needs of our community.
We set out to help the poor, the elderly and families in need. Today, we remain active in the community, offering an array of health and human services that other groups don’t offer.
We help caregivers get the rest they need so they can continue to help their friends and relatives. We put up curtains, build rooms and add ramps and railings for the elderly so they don’t have to leave their homes.
We provide parenting tools to families and help them access programs and services that keep their children healthy.
We give low-income immigrants in our community access to legal assistance so they can become productive and tax-paying citizens.
And in times of tragedy, S.T.E.P.S. has become one of the few community organizations in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties to offer construction assistance, helping families get back on their feet.
S.T.E.P.S., its staff and board are constantly reevaluating our community’s needs so we can fill in the gaps created by budget cuts, job losses and business closings.
We know we make a difference.
