One of the great things about the United States is that a group of community activists and leaders can create an organization that serves the public purpose for a common good. Forming a not-for-profit assures preservation of such vision, and helps meet the health and human service needs such as elder services, family preservation, children’s health and safety, and consumer rights.

S.T.E.P.S. in the Right Direction, Inc. (S.T.E.P.S. Inc.) was founded in 2000 by Vivian Earline Ledbetter and Michael Salem with the same vision to feed the poor and marginal, restore hope and dignity for the vulnerable and their caregivers, and advocate for basic human rights. Today, the agency continues to offer critical services to the elderly, children, and families enhancing their quality of life and enabling independent living and promoting self-sufficiency.
